Robust climber to 25 m in height. Tubers often 2–3 together, with withering tubers of previous season, 5–12 by 1.5–3.2 cm, cylindric to clavate, annually replaced, vertically oriented. Indumentum absent. Stems 2.5–7 mm in diam., twining to the left, annual, terete, unarmed. Leaves simple, alternate, blade broadly ovate to sagittateovate, chartaceous, (5–)7-veined, first vein pair often near the leaf margin towards apex, margins entire, base cordate to sagittate or auriculate, apex acuminate; petioles 1.7–9.5 cm long; cataphylls and lateral nodal organs absent; bulbils occasionally produced in leaf axils where stems touch the soil, 1.5–2.2 by 2.5–3 cm, long, cylindric to globose. Inflorescences pendent, tepals fleshy in texture, 0.3–0.4 mm thick, inserted on a shallow, bowl-shaped torus, free, spreading; male inflorescences racemose, simple or compound, compound inflorescences 1(–2) per axil, simple/partial inflorescences 1–3(–4) per axil, peduncles 3–14 mm long, axes 3–25 cm long; female inflorescences racemose, simple, 1–2 per axil. Male flowers c. 5.0– 5.5 mm in diam. at anthesis, pedicels 1.5–2.2 mm long; tepals ovate to broadly so, outer 2.4–2.9 by 1–1.5 mm, inner 2.1–2.9 by 0.9–1.5 mm, stamens 6, filaments 0.6–0.8 mm long, incurved towards apex. Female flowers on 3.5–6.5 mm long pedicels. Capsules 37–45 by 55–90 mm. Mature seeds not seen, immature 5–9.5 by 5–10 mm, flattened-ovoid to lenticular, wings 16–23 by 19–27 mm, extending all around seed margin.
